Here's a taste of what's happening in Europe:

  • In 2019, overall online travel penetration for the three Scandinavian nations – Denmark, Norway and Sweden – was projected at 62%, among the highest rates in all of Western Europe.

  • The French travel market is projected to grow modestly in the medium term, climbing from €47.0 billion in 2019 to €49.9 billion by 2023.

  • In Germany, although revenue dipped slightly in 2018, travel gross bookings are expected to rebound by the end of 2019, increasing approximately 2% annually to reach €69.1 billion in 2023.

  • Total U.K. travel market gross bookings are expected to grow to 1.5-2% annually through 2023. However, given the U.K.'s significant reliance on global travel suppliers and intermediaries, negotiations with the EU represent a wild card that could further impact travel market performance.
