Dr Dirk Tietz (42) became the Chief Digital and Transformation Officer (CDO) (former Chief Transformation Officer (CTO)) of DER Touristik in 2015. In this position, he assumes overall responsibility for the company’s digital transformation, online sales and the upgrading of the IT landscape at the DER Touristik Group.
Dr Dirk Tietz studied industrial engineering in Braunschweig, Berlin and Berkeley/USA. In 2005, he earned his PhD in economics and social sciences at the University of Trier.
He began his business career at the consulting firm McKinsey & Company. In 2009, he joined TUI Deutschland GmbH, where he held a number of different positions. He initially oversaw mergers & acquisitions and investment management for key subsidiaries at TUI Central Europe in Hanover. In 2011, he became head of TUI.com GmbH in Berlin, where he completely restructured the area of e-commerce and portal management. In 2014, he assumed leadership of digital commerce in Berlin for TUI Deutschland GmbH.
Dirk Tietz was born in Dornach, Switzerland, a town near Basel, to German parents. He is a passionate traveller and loves individual long-distance trips in particular.
