Beyond the Bed forms part of Hotelbeds and is the world's online distributor of transfers, tours, activities and car rental, offering over 24,000 transfers routes, 18,000 activity options and 500 car rental suppliers to its large base of partners worldwide
Additionally Beyond the Bed operates three specialist brands: Carnect (http://carnect.com/), a B2B car rental platform with 500 car rental suppliers; Isango (https://www.isango.com/), a B2C website offering activities in-destination for consumers; and Holiday Taxis (https://www.holidaytaxis.com/en/), an in-destination transfer solutions company.
Javier graduated from Rovira I Virigili University in Tarragona (Spain) in 1992 with a degree in Tourism and in 1997 obtained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
After an initial few years in the hotel sector, he joined Barceló Travel Group in 1994, where he spent nine years covering Catalonia & Andorra. In this time he held various positions, moving his way up the ranks before being appointed Area Director.
In 2000 the division where Javier worked, Barceló Destination Services, was acquired by First Choice Holidays PLC, which then merged with the tourism division of TUI AG to form TUI Travel PLC. In 2001, the company launched the Hotelbeds brand, becoming one of the first B2B ‘bedbanks’ worldwide. Two years later Javier was promoted to the role of Managing Director, Spain & Andorra, where he expanded the company’s presence in that region.
Javier was promoted in 2005 to Product Director in Hotelbeds, a position he held for five years before taking on direct responsibility for the Americas region in the role of Managing Director, based in Miami (USA). In 2013 he moved over to the Mediterranean and Africa region, also as Managing Director. One year later, Javier was promoted to Executive VP, Global Sourcing for Hotelbeds’ bedbank business unit with a worldwide remit.
In addition to the aforementioned positions, since 2005 he was also a member of the Board of Directors of Hotelbeds, where he participated in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide Hotelbeds until it became an independent company in September 2016 under the ownership of Cinven and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).
Following his successful track record in the bedbank business unit, in 2016 Arévalo was appointed Executive VP, Managing Director of Beyond the Bed, Hotelbeds’ ancillary product line.
